TAKING MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS TO THE STREETS

Every year, 10th October is marked as the World Mental Health Day. It is globally set aside to create awareness for mental health.

Tuesday, 10th October, 2017 was marked as the World Mental Health Day all around the globe. Staff and students of Federal School of Occupational Therapy, FSOT, Oshodi, took to the streets to increase the common man’s awareness of that aspect of healthcare.

According to Mr. Olukoju Emmanuel, a lecturer at the school, “World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental healthcare”.

He added: “The day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work and what more need to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide”.

Not wanting to just sit and talk, the entire school decided to take to the streets and create more awareness about the ailment.
