Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala scored a brace in Barcelona’s first loss of the season to Sporting Huelva. The female team of Barcelona lost their first match of the season, falling by 3-2 in their away fixture to Huelva. Oshola scored the first goal in the 17th minute after she took advantage of a rebound to put her side ahead.
But Huelva came back stronger as they capitalized on a defensive blunder in the 59th minute as an intended back pass was intercepted and Raquel Fernandes who made no mistake in leveling to score to 1-1. Another error led to Huelva’s second goal as Barca’s goalkeeper came out for the punch but Anita connected with the header to make it 2-1. Huelva’s third was much more clinical as Flor Bonsegundo was given time and space to put the ball through the legs of the goalkeeper and it was 3-1 to the home side.
Oshoala completed her brace from the corner as she pulled one back with a fine header to make it 3-2. But the Catalan side’s last minute free-kick went over the bar as they suffered their first defeat of the season in the league.
Meanwhile the Nigerian international Asisat Oshola scored on her Barcelona debut in their 4-0 win over Rayo Vallecano. The three-time African footballer of the year came on as a second half substitute to score La Blaugranes fourth goal.
