The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nig,MMWGN has charged members of the new Federal Executive Council,FEC, especially the newly sworn-in Ministers to bring their expertise and experience to bear in their respective assignments in order to justify their worthy choice by President Muhammadu Buhari
According to Ogun State Co-ordinator of Muslim Media Watch Group of Nig, Alh Kamaldeen Akintunde, the new federal cabinet ministers should avail the nation of their academic and professional competence by unveiling programmes and projects that will aid and accelerate socio-economic development of the country.
Akintunde noted that the much said “next level Agenda” of PMB second term mandate will be worthless and meaningless if their performance fell short of standard and not in tandem with goal and aspiration of PMB’s Agenda setting.
While asking PMB to set a ‘bench mark’ for their effective performance, Akintunde emphasised the need for their periodic assessment in order to keep them on their toes for efficiency and effectiveness that will engender accelerated growth and development of the country. He described the fresh and old hands as “goal getter”, just as he enjoined them to prove their mettle as they set on their respective tasks.
Meanwhile, MMWGN has identified synergy and team spirit as cardinal to achieving inter-Sectoral/Agency co-operation,collaboration and good network required for an all round development of the country, urging the new ministers to eschew rivalry, competitiveness and embrace sound and collective approach in the delivery of their mandate
The watch group noted that their appointment was coming at a trying and challenging time for the country, and enjoined them to put the nation’s interest first and above primordial and sectional concerns. “It is equally imperative that your private and official conduct should be in tandem with best and conventional practices, while also ensuring principles of accountability, transparency and fair-play attitude in the conduct of your affairs”
MMWGN berated Human Rights Writters Association, HURIWA for charging PMB of bias on allocation of Interior and Defence portfolio to Muslims, noting the opinion as ill conceived, parochial and infertile. The group posited that PMB’s choice of portfolio for the ministers was hinged on their intellectual and professional capabilities, track record and geographical spread as constitutionally permitted, and of course in the overall best national interest
