“I think the interreligious harmony, collaboration, networking between various religious groups, communities, is uppermost and very important. By this responsibility, I should ensure that.”
“It is a thing of joy for me and as pride as well, yet a challenge even though I have been asked to come and add value to the promotion and propagation of our faith, Islam here. I have also been asked to come and join hands with the team here and also to come and make my own contributions towards the promotion and propagation of Islam.”
“So, I see it as a challenge even though it is thing I have been doing before. But with this conferment, it is an added responsibility because that title is a leadership responsibility.”
“The leadership is not a one man responsibility per se, it is a collective responsibility. I will rely on the help of Almighty Allah as well as the support, cooperation, understanding, and prayers of the community to ensure the success of this challenging assignment and responsibility. I also need the support of the press considering your important role in the community.”
I will serve the community to this best of my abiliy, taking into cognisance the literary meaning of our community, “Itesi”, which is the short form of “Itesiwaju” meaning advancement, progress and further initiative at ensuring stability, peaceful co-existence and development in the community and beyond.”
